WHY DOES MY CHIMNEY NEED TO BE SWEPT AND INSPECTED?
Safety is the most important reason for an annual chimney inspection by a (CSIA) Certified Chimney Sweep. This residue, called creosote, is extremely flammable and when it's allowed to build up, it can cause a chimney fire. The Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends that a chimney should be inspected before buying a home and then at least every 12 months. Even if you use you rarely use your fireplace or stove, it is still recommended that you have your chimney inspected annually.
